Career Talks for 7th Formers

On Saturday, 30 October, 2009 the Alumnae Executive hosted a very interesting and informative careers hour for 7th Formers in the School Hall at 3.30pm. The presentors were Shirleen Sahai who spoke on a career in the Bank; Sr Senoveva on a life of service with the Sisters of St Joseph de Cluny, Rachael Varea as an office manager/administrator and Elizabeth Fong spoke about a career in the library/information sector.

There were around 40 girls in attendance and were treated to afternoon tea at the end. The Executive is planning on making this an annual activity.

Wow. How far back do your former students go? I was there in the 1960s and got to 4th form in 1966 before leaving for Australia.

Are there any students communicating from that era?

Many former SJSS students attended the Golden Jubilee in Sep, 2006. Check out pics from the blog as well as the website: http://sjss.fj.googlepages.com/home
and see if you recognize and/or remember any of them.

I've forgotten the system of "forms/standards etc." My name is Lorraine Cotter and I was the rather naive student who was so enthusiastic about everything including always getting into trouble with Sister Stephen. I spent a lot of time weeding out sensitive grass from the gardens. I'm now retired from the paid workforce and live in Tasmania with my husband. We both are very busy with various voluntary jobs in southern Tasmania.

I see from the photos that, except for the beret, the uniform hasn't changed much.
